Pier Pressure

Royal Pressure

Large and busy mainstream nightclub on Aberystwyth Pier.

Still the largest of Aberystwyth's night clubs and bars, Pier Pressure makes no pretence of being sophisticated or cutting-edge. Primarily playing mainstream pop and dance music, its large dancefloor is popular with both students and younger locals. Open from about 10pm till at least 2.30am, sometimes later.

Admission charged, but offers often available when drinking in neighbouring Inn on the Pier beforehand. Take a coat - it's cold queueing along the seafront to be let in!

Depsite charging an entry fee of £1.50-£3 once inside the drinks are much cheaper than in yokos (whynot) especially Tuesday and Thursday. Personally I think the music is better than Yokos, (I like a bit of cheese thrown in with some of the new dance tracks), The DJ seems to know what he's doing too.

Come here Tuesdays only (pound party), it's free entry with a handstamp from the pub next door before 12 or 1. Other nights best avoid as the entry fee is a joke!

The music is OK, usual chart dross but seems better than Why Not. Closes at 3 which is a bit of a bore and people usually leave from about 2 and head off to Why Not, surely would be better if the place stayed open to 4 or 5 maybe. Other than that it takes about 15 minutes to get served at the bar and the bouncers look like they might shoot you if you try bringing drinks on the dancefloor.

Better than Why Not but in terms of what a club should offer it's deceivingly average.
