The Academy

One of Aberystwyth's largest pubs, housed in a converted church.

The main room is bright, open-plan and lively with big seating areas for large groups, a gallery level and big screen. Busy with standing crowds on Friday and Saturday nights; much quieter during the day when food is also served.

Away from the main bar, there's also a large games room with pool tables, table football and gaming machines.

For atmosphere, probably the best bar in town, but it can get very busy especially on weekends. I've waited around 10 minutes or so to be served and sift through the queues.

Drinks prices are okay, certainly not the cheapest around but they do some good deals which are plastered on the wall behind the bar, also sells absinthe if thats your kind of tipple.

Shows alot of sport of the many of its plasma screens throughout the whole venue and apart from the student union covers a large amount of american football.

The balcony area is a nice touch to the place and there's also pool tables around to play on. Recommend this place completely.
