Varsity Aberystwyth

In my first year at Aberystwyth 09 Varsity was only the 1 stop shot pub for us. Me and my friends occasionally ate there because it was cheap but it lacked a lot. Since moving away and now living here again it has been refurbished and has very friendly staff that are always cleaning and asking me how everything is. I'v heard a lot of bad about varsity but these accusations come from years ago/ upper class slobs. It is a superb PUB selling a wide range of food and drinks. It is generally more expensive than weatherspoons because it doesn't use frozen foods and watered down drafts.

Used to be the White Horse with a sexy barman called Mike Kay.

Service is well known for being very bad in this place but they do serve some decent real ale compared to other places. However, ordered vegetarian meal there at the weekend, and found chicken added; sent it back only for it to be given back to me with the chicken having been taken off, or so they thought. I was livid!! Cannot trust the food no matter what you order! Will not be going in this place again, ever. The tables were also a mess and the toilets absolutely filthy. We had friends with us who were visiting Aber for the first time, so this was extremely embarrassing.

Staff seem to be rude and abrupt, the service very slow. Toilets extremely dirty. Refurbishment has not seen much change. Drinks and food very expensive compared to the Wetherspoons. Ok they do WIFI but so do Wetherspoon at a reasonable price, offers are clearly signaged. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!!!

Quite possiblt the worst service ever, poorly trained staff who take their time to serve and dont tell you the offers. Bouncers heavy handed possibly due to fact that they couldnt win a fight with a 90 year old. Food awful to, i would avoid!

shocking service since recent manager left. food has been off and staff have been very rude. will not be going there in the near future. EVER!
