Television and Radio in Aberystwyth

Television

Aberystwyth is covered by normal digital television transmissions and satellite broadcasts, but not by cable TV companies.

Town Centre and Immediate Surrounds

Most of Aberystwyth can receive strong digital terrestrial TV signals from the major transmitter at Blaenplwyf, about 6 km south. The old analogue signal ceased transmitting in March 2010.

Penparcau, Trefechan, Bow Street, Dol-y-bont, Penrhyncoch, Ystumtuen

Parts of these areas cannot receive a signal from Blaenplwyf and are instead covered by smaller relay transmitters. These carry a more restricted range of core digital / Freeview channels.

Radio

FM and AM analogue radio

Aberystwyth receives all BBC radio channels and some commercial channels. Those that can be received clearly are as follows:

• BBC Radio 5 Live - 990MW

• Classic FM - 101.1FM
• Radio Ceredigion - 103.3FM

Ireland's RTE1 can be received on 567 MW and 252 LW.

Talk Sport and Absolute Radio do not specifically cover Aberystwyth, although very patchy reception may be available on 1053 and 1215 MW respectively.
