Aberystwyth Arts Centre

Aberystwyth Arts Centre is a busy and popular venue, providing a range of entertainment, workshops and activities.

Situated at the heart of Aberystwyth University's Penglais Campus overlooking the town, the Arts Centre attracts a variety of visitors, from local people coming to enjoy the active events programme to students and university staff who stop here for a break between lectures.

Facilities include a large theatre, the Great Hall, cinema, arts workshops, dance studios and exhibition galleries.

The Arts Centre's programme includes shows, exhibitions and films throughout the year. Its bars and cafés are also popular places to meet over a coffee or a lunchtime meal, especially as the hilltop location gives one of the best views in town.

Shows and Films

A range of high-quality local and touring productions are staged at the centre, along with great music from pop to classical and dance and literary events. The cosy little cinema shows a range of films from major new releases to independent productions that you won't find screened anywhere else for miles. Annual summer shows and Christmas pantomimes are Aberystwyth institutions.

Exhibitions

The exhibition galleries, along with the dedicated and well-respected Ceramic Gallery, host a regular programme of visual arts exhibitions including touring displays of national importance and the best of Welsh art and craft.

Arts and Crafts

As well as the University's own bookshop, there's a shop filled with all manner of art-related gifts, craft items, nick-nacks, gadgets and a range of CD albums and DVDs.

In the run-up to Christmas, the centre is crammed with craft stalls as part of the Christmas Craft Fayre. It's another Aberystwyth tradition and always worth a browse for interesting and unusual gifts.

Activities

A range of workshops are also held, including courses on pottery, screen printing, drawing, painting and other crafts for adults and children. There are also a number of courses in music, dance, drama and literature.

Admission to the building is free.
