Mains Gas Suppliers:
Traditionally, the UK has been served mainly by British Gas. However, consumers can now buy their gas from any company they wish. Changing suppliers is quite easy and does not need any work to be carried out at the property.
Supply Enquiries and Gas Leaks:
No matter who you buy your gas from, it is probably piped into your house by Wales & West Utilities.
Gas leaks should always be reported directly to the National Gas Emergency Helpine on 0800 111999.
Moving House?
When you move into a new property you will normally have to use the existing energy supplier at first (i.e. the one chosen by the previous occupier). After the supply has been transferred into your name, you can then apply to switch suppliers if you wish to do so. If you don't know who the current supplier is, you can find out by calling 0870 608 1524.
