Main Railway Services to Aberystwyth

Good, regular train services run to Aberystwyth every day of the week, linking Aberystwyth with the West Midlands. Connecting services at Shrewsbury, Wolverhampton and Birmingham provide onward links to the rest of the country.

Trains to and from Aberystwyth are generally comfortable, clean and modern with air-conditioning and usually a drinks and snacks service on board.

From Mid Wales and the West Midlands
Arriva Trains Wales operate direct services from Birmingham New Street to Aberystwyth via Shrewsbury and Machynlleth. Services operate approximately every two hours. Journey time from Birmingham to Aberystwyth is around 2 hours and 45 minutes.

From London and the South East
Virgin Trains operate InterCity services from London Euston to Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton, where onward connections to Aberystwyth are available. For most journeys starting south of London, it is necessary to cross London. Passengers from Brighton and Gatwick may take advantage of direct services to Watford Junction on the London Euston - Birmingham line instead.

From North Wales, Manchester, Liverpool and the North West
Direct Arriva Trains Wales services are available from Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Crewe and North Wales to Shrewsbury, where connections with Aberystwyth services are available. Virgin Trains services from the North West also connect with some Aberystwyth services at Wolverhampton.
