School of Art Galleries

School exterior

A department of Aberystwyth University, the School of Art, has public galleries which are used to display a variety of artworks including those from the University's collections. The building itself is also quite pretty having been pleasantly converted from its original role as chemistry laboratories.

Exhibitions change regularly and some of these are put together by students following courses in museum and gallery management. Access to both of the small galleries is free.

The galleries are located at the extreme ends of the ground floor. They aren't signposted, but you can find them by simply heading to the end of the left or right hand corridors. Unfortunately, the upper levels, the rather nice staircase and the artworks on it are "out of bounds" to visitors.

Gallery

The School of Art is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 5pm. You can find it on a small hill known as 'The Buarth' overlooking the bus station and retail park. Reach it from the end of either Stanley Road or Trinity Road.
