Le Casablanca

Le Casablanca restaurant in Aberystwyth

An Aberystwyth favourite - a compact little Mediterranean restaurant with friendly staff. 'Bring you own alcohol' policy, with no corkage charge.

A tiny hide-away which I'm in two minds whether to keep a secret or not. The service is great and the food is even better. Amazing range of starters and definitely the best steak in town!

I recently discovered Le Casablanca whilst visiting Aberystwyth.Although it was a very busy night, the staff made every effort to accomodate us, and the service was great. There was a lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. This place is a little treasure, and well worth a visit!

"Mixed experience with some fundamental flaws. The restaurant had made use of its small size and successfully turned 'small' into 'cosy' and the food was tasty, mostly fresh and well prepared. However, the experience was undermined by inadequate service. On arrival we received no welcome greeting or acknowledgement at all, the waitress deigning to make first contact and take our orders after over 20 minutes' wait. The choice not to play any music was unusual, as was the absence of a light, hand dryer or towel in the bathroom. The food was fairly priced at 9.95 or 12.95 for main courses. However, not one vegetarian option was advertised on the menu or wall boards. The only vegetarian dish offered upon request was a filo parcel served with a rather pedestrian side salad. It was difficult to equate the meal with the 12.95 price tag, which was the same for a huge lamb steak. At 10pm (on a Friday night) we were informed that the kitchen was closed. No offer of desert or coffee." - James [May 2008]

"Great service, especially for the fact that we had no reservation for the nine of us. The food was of a good quality and the staff were friendly. However, being a vegetarian the choice of one dish wasn't that impressive." - Liam [Apr 2008]

"Altogether first rate: intimate but lively atmosphere; excellent food; and attentive and friendly staff. BYO alcohol with no corkage charge is also a plus, given restaurants' customarily exorbitant mark-up of their own indifferent wines. Great value for money. Difficult to fault." - David, Kent [Mar 2008]

"Great food, great atmosphere, poor service." - John [Jul 2007]

"Great to see it reopened. Service is great, food is nice and menus are a refreshing change to other places in Aber. The banoffee pancakes are fantastic!" - Dafydd Davies [Oct 2006]

"This is by far the best restaurant in Aber. Very friendly staff and beautiful food." - John [Aug 2006]

"This was our favourite restaurant during our university days, so happy that it is open again. One of the main reasons we come back to Aberystwyth. Gorgeous freshly-cooked food, lovely staff and relaxed atmosphere. BYO is a plus. Definitely worth a visit!" - Michelle & Steve [Jun 2006]

"Superb! Excellent place to go with a group of friends. Music good. Staff lovely. Atmoshere brilliant. Food FANTASTIC! Excellent way to start the evening off. Food not too heavy and you must take your own booze so doesn't work out too expensive either. You must try the Dolma (stuffed vine leaves), ooh, and the salmon or chicken. Lamb steaks good too. Ooops nearly forgot, try the lemon brulee! Everything on the menu cooked in front of you. Best restaurant in Aber by FAAAARRRRRR!" - Emma [Jun 2006]

"This is definitely my favourite restaurant in Aberystwyth! I was so upset to see that it had been sold up, and absolutely ecstatic when it re-opened. After eating there this weekend, it is still up to the same high standard as before. Delicious food, reasonable prices, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service. If you haven't been before, GO! If you have, GO AGAIN!" - Philippa [Feb 2006]
