Pier Pressure

Pier Pressure

Aber's only large, serious nightclub. Open from about 10pm till at least 2.30am, sometimes 4am. Admission charged always, but some specials and discounts, especially early in the week. Housed upstairs in the pier with a large dancefloor and two bars. Gets very busy!

Awful club, same songs played every single week, in exactly the same order, and they're not even good songs! If you're a student from a big city and you're used to a decent night out, then you have my deepest sympathies!

Too expensive; door staff rude. Made to wait in a long queue in the pouring rain only to get inside and it was virtually empty... why? Inside was dirty, floor sticky and staff behind the bar looked scruffy. On the plus side the music was good and we had a good night but Aber really needs a another club to challenge the Pier as it is complacently arogant and needs a wake up call. Why Not (Yoko's)was a lot friendlier and free but it's a bit dingy and needs to be brightened up. If the owner took time out to visit a few successful - but small - nightclubs in Manchester, Birmingham or Liverpool etc and rain a few ideas then it could be the place to turn the tide against the Pier.

Trading successfully for 12 years under the same name (unlike Porky's, sorry...K2, sorry... Yoko's, sorry... Why Not?...), simply Aberystwyth's busiest and most popular nightspot!

Complete hole, but the one place to be if ur on the sniff. Don't enter sober, as the entry price alone will make you puke. If you find yourself walking funny, it's not coz you're wankered... it's coz the carpets are that sticky it's comparable to quicksand. Thursday night is best...or at least it was when pound party was going. If it's still going that's where you wanna be.

What a rip off - charge you 5-6 pound to get in and it's quiet. Off to Why Not where it's free to get in and the drinks are cheaper. Could do with a good clean.

"Pier Pressure is the best club in Aberyswtyth and you get brill nights and great promotions. The staff are friendly and you get a mixture of music to keep you on the dance floor all night. So if you get the chance to go, go because you would want to go again!" - D W Evans [Apr 2007]
