Yes, the Shilam is a decent curry house, and fairly priced. Don't get a hunger for curry very often due to some poor experiences, but this place is good. Always smells nice enough to actually make curry seem like a good idea as I walk past.

:-D Shilam is an absolutely fantastic restaurant, and a great example of good quality and well priced Indian cuisine. I've missed the place since moving away after graduation over a year ago and will be returning this summer almost specifically to eat there. Can't wait!

Shilam is one of the best restaurants in Aber. It's modern and stylish and the food is delicious. The quality can vary a little bit as one of the other commenters said, but it's usually great. The quality of the food at the lunch time buffet has increased considerably recently with much more meat and veg on offer in the curries. The staff are friendly and helpful and it has a good atmosphere.

We make a purpose trip through Aberystwyth just so we can have the lunch buffet. It is beautiful! The price is fantastic for what you get. The best tikka masala I've had. It's nice how it looks out to the train station. The staff are average and know if you are there to spend lots of cash or not. Us cheapskates are normally left to it. Would recommed anyone go there instead of eating at Wetherspoons next door!

Eaten in Shilam many, many times.
The waiter guys are cool, service is good. Not too much waiting even when busy.
80% of the time the food is absolutely orgasmic. Watch out for that 20% - I don't know if there was a different chef or what but sometimes it's bland.
I keep going back so it can't be that bad.

Nice place, very strange layout though. Had brill big starters. Decided to be a bit experimental for mains and had duck pasanda, very strange but lovely, couldn't finish as starter filled me up! Over all a good restaurant, reasonably priced and good friendly staff. Would probably return. Loved the fresh flowers on all the tables.

"I live in London and so have access to a great number of Indian restaurants. Ate at Shilam in the evening a la carte and was extremely impressed by the food (slightly different from run of the mill menu and expert blend of spices - could tell each individual one), friendly and efficient service, good accommodation with plenty of room between tables. Dhal especially good. Came back for the lunch time buffet on Sunday, which, while not being so outstanding, is excellent value at £5.95." - Carol, London [Apr 2007]
