Tides

Since our daughter started at Aberystwyth University last year we have tried a number of restaurants in the area, but keep coming back to Tides, not to say there are some very good restaurants in Aber. I love the Hot Rocks; this is a way of serving steak, pork or lamb on a hot brick which allows you to finish off the meat to your liking from rare to well done. Service is friendly and open, I like the way they pay attention to detail without being on top of you which makes the evening so relaxed and enjoyable. Tides uses local produce including Welsh Black for the Beef and Lamb along with seasonal vegetables, everything is "home cooked" being freshly prepared on the premises. I am looking forward to trying the pasta when we next visit, followed by one of the sea food dishes on the next; they all look so good. Desert is also superb with one of my favourites Tiramisu, or a selection of cheeses including Welsh. The last time we visited (our fifth and counting) the Chef and owner was preparing a new cocktail menu and invited us to try some, it has been a long time since I had such a good martini. There is already an excellent wine list, however I think the cocktail menu will also add to the overall dining experience to be enjoyed at Tides.

Not just a cafe, this is definetely one of the best reataurants in aber. Helpful friendly staff (although a bit short in numbers and very busy), fantastic food and a lovely cosy atmosphere when candlelit in the evening. I would recommend this place, try it once and you'll be back for more.

Had a fantastic meal - great service, excellent location, there were 13 of us too which was no problem to the staff.
