Wasabi
I've been here a couple of times and I think its my new favourite place to go in Aber. It's not cheap (though if you're a student nowhere is!), but when I think of what I got for about £25, it's actually pretty good value! The waitresses are great, I didn't have a problem with their English at all and they were friendly, and the atmosphere is really nice. Not an expert on Japanese cuisine, but I thought the food was lovely.

A pleasant and interesting place to eat -- a good selection of dishes on the menu and variety of different flavours, textures and ingredients. Perhaps the waitresses don't have the best English language skills, but they more than make up for it by being friendly, polite and smiling. I like the dining environment: it is very calming and bright. Overall, I would recommend it, and it is nice to have somewhere a little different to the usual restaurants in Aber.

me again!
i really think they should have a cheaper day time menu , and the prices should be cheaper for take out , im desperate to take a different lunch to work with me instead of sandwiches but im not paying $9 for my lunch!

positive feedback
years i have waited for a sushi bar in aberystwyth as its my fav food! we had gorgeous sushi , and a nice breaded pork with rice ! we also had a noodle soup thingy , but neither me or my partner liked that , it just tasted like a chip shop curry sauce . However , everyone's taste is different and i like the sushi so much im thinking or returning there tomorrow . The setting and plates are beautiful and prices fair , i just wished they delivered! the only thing, i wasn't sure if the waitress was rude or just couldn't speak english so well! but i wont let that dampen my thoughts , WILL be returning !

Can't believe some of these negtive comments! Have been several times to this lovely restaurant and each time have had great food and wonderful service, nothing but praise for delightful evenings and will certainly be eating there again and again and again, well done Wasabi.

Went a couple of months ago and I have mixed feelings about the place, though I'd go again. The sashimi was poor - fish certainly could have been a lot fresher, it was lacking in taste and decent texture, so wouldn't have this again. Maki rolls varied - my recollection is that the fillings didn't taste much. The soupy/noodle dishes aren't bad at all though, but could do with more flavouring - no need to tone it down so much for the Aber folk! The veges used all seemed nice and fresh. Everything was too salty. The restaurant was fairly full, but still, food took over an hour to come (drinks arrived quickly), while others in our group (13ish people) who had arrived and ordered 15 minutes before us had their 10+ mins after us. So that's another aspect that put me off, but luckily staff were friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Not too keen on the "airfreshener" by the door spraying stink every few minutes - I recommend seating away from the doorway / walls. From my one experience I'd say if you've ever eaten decent japanese food before, don't expect this place to match it - but it is perfectly edible and makes for interesting eating.

Make a point of eating here at least twice a week. Fantastic food, so fresh and tasty. Service is great and price is just right. Keep it up Wasabi!

Food
Great addition to Aber.
Been three times and had a different Bento each time, always great.
Don't agree that it's expensive (£9 for a box seems fine) and service fast.
Maybe not a place to spend an evening (unlike say Gwesty Cymru) but ideal if you're off to, say, the Arts Centre.

It's not the world's most authentic Japanese food but the sushi is pretty decent and the bento are good. I've been several times now and enjoyed every meal. I've been told by my Japanese friends that there is something wrong with the miso soup they serve (it's being overheated or something) which spoils the flavour. It's worth booking a table as it's often packed in the evenings.

Really can't agree with the negative reviews here: we've made 3 enjoyable visits in the last couple of months, service and food are good enough to bring us back. Hope they can maintain the quality!

Went there few weeks ago, food was so salty I couldn't even open my eyes while I was eating. The food took a long time to get to the table, and was definitely not worth the wait. To be honest it spoilt my evening. I was so happy that a sushi bar finally opened in Aber, but so disappointed at the rubbish that I had to put in my mouth.

This restaurant is amazing! Have been several times as the food is so good. The menu has something for all and it is so reasonable in price. For the quality of service and food I'd easily pay more for it. TOP PLACE!

Have had 2 really good meals here. Yes it's a bit expensive, but it is Sushi and you won't find anything else like this in Aber. All the staff friendly enough and service very fast.

Waiters recommended the items that the restaurant could blatantly not sell, and were very slow in getting us the bill, preferring to offer us more drinks instead of letting us pay.
Food was of a good standard for Aberystwyth, but compared to other sushi restaurants, was very poor.

I agree with all issues regarding the food and menu, it is a change of scene for the town and most welcome considering the drab rubbish you normally get in Aber, but what's with the waiter's attitude and the constant hands in pockets while serving, not to mention that if you turn up ten minutes before last table orders he won't serve you (this has happened to me twice), are we not in troubled times? How can a new restaurant turn away good money in such an unprofessional manner. It has upset me to the point where I refuse to go there anymore, so back to the drab rubbish I guess. Anyone for tapas?

This place is a new thing for Aber, healthy food - and so enjoyable. The restaurant is very relaxed, great staff and reasonably priced. The menu is fantastic, there's something for all even those who don't fancy sushi. It's about time Aber had somewhere like this!

Great place. Really relaxed and tasty food. Bit expensive but not more than any other place in Aber.
