Town of 50 pubs?

You'll often hear it said that Aberystwyth has the highest density of pubs in the country, or that it has more pubs per person than anywhere else. But is this true?

"Aberystwyth has the most pubs per person/per square mile in the country"
Well - there are quite a few so it is possible. But bear in mind a quick web search reveals that St Albans, Launceston, Leek, Nottingham, Knaresborough, Otley, Rugby, Edinburgh and Winchester all have similar claims made about them.

"There's a pub for every week of the year"
There isn't. Fact. There are about 30 pubs, bars and clubs in the town centre. If you really stretch things and add in places in Llanbadarn, bars on campus and private members' clubs you can just about make 50.

"There are 60 pubs in Aber"
Go on then, name the ones I've missed below and I'll add them... :-)

If anyone can find real proof that Aber has the highest density of pubs, let me know - it'd be great to have proof one way or the other!
