Ship and Castle

Ship and Castle

Modernised but characterful old pub specialising in real ale.

This long-established back street pub is one of Aberystwyth's oldest. Updated and refitted with a more modern interior in 2009, it still retains its own special character and can make a welcome contrast to the louder, brasher bars that dominate the town centre. The Ship and Castle's range of beers has gained it a good reputation with real ale fans and has also won it several awards, including CAMRA's South and Mid Wales 'Pub of the Year' in 2010.

This is simply the best pub [or bar] in Aber. When I used to live in Aber the selection and the quality of real ales was first class. This has stayed true on any return visit since. A pub with a most friendly landlord who knows how to keep a good cellar. I wish their was more pubs still like this.

Pop into this pub everytime I visit my mom there. The real ale is excellent & the gaffer really knows his stuff. The pub attracts young & old alike. More pubs should be like this.

If you want the best ale in town, this is the pub for you. Voted Ceredigion Camra pub of the year 2010. Two beer festivals every year. Top place with a mix of locals and students.
