Situated on Penglais Hill at the north end of town, Parc Penglais is a great place to explore and offers excellent views of the town.

Once part of the Penglais Estate, the woodland has been donated to the town by the University. A network of footpaths criss-cross the park which is a combination of beech woods and an old quarry.

The woodland is, naturally, home to a range of wildlife with a reputation for fine displays of bluebells in the Spring. The park is worth a visit at any time of year, however, due to the fantastic views over the town. From the promenade to Penparcau, just about all of the town can be surveyed from the old quarry.

Ceredigion County Council designated Parc Penglais their first nature reserve in 1996.

Access to the Park

A: Gravel path across grassed area from junction of Northgate Street and North Road.

B: Off Heol y Bryn Road (easier access to viewpoint) - entrance by lamp post. Shortcuts to this entrance from North Road via Trefor Road and old hospital road.

- Plas Penglais (road opposite main university entrance on Penglais Hill, by glasshouses)
- Pentre Jane Morgan (Student Village)

A good route to try would be from point A on the map to the picnic clearing and back out via the quarry viewpoint and point B.
